Trader Concerns: Opposition Mega Rally Sparks Business Worries in Delhi

Image: ABP Live

The Opposition’s mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan has triggered concerns among traders over its impact on business during the festive season. The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has reportedly written a fourth letter to Rahul Gandhi, highlighting the alleged losses caused by the rally-related restrictions. In its letter, CTI claimed that around 2.5 lakh shops had shut and transport services were disrupted within a 10-kilometre radius of Ramlila Maidan. The traders’ body also claimed that nearly 80% of business activity had come to a standstill. CTI welcomed Rahul Gandhi’s appeal asking rally participants to visit Delhi’s markets and shop, but said the situation on the ground was very different because of the disruptions. The organisation has also demanded that the Congress compensate traders if they suffer losses due to the rally. The concerns have brought attention to the challenges faced by local businesses as security arrangements, traffic restrictions and the large political gathering coincide with the festive shopping period. These figures and demands are claims made by CTI in its letter.
