Dubai Ride 2026 turns Sheikh Zayed Road into cycling track

Dubai: Thousands of cyclists took over Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday, November 1, for the seventh edition of Dubai Ride, a major event on the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 calendar.
The free event featured two routes catering to different age groups and abilities. Experienced cyclists covered a 12 km stretch, while families could opt for a 4km circuit through Downtown Dubai.
The routes offered views of prominent attractions, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera. The longer course had five designated starting points, including the Museum of the Future and Coca-Cola Arena, while the family circuit began at Emaar Boulevard.
Cycling sessions ran from 6:15 am to 8 am, with a maximum speed limit of 25 kmph.

Traffic restrictions and Metro arrangements
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) imposed temporary closures on three major roads between 3 am and 9:30 am to accommodate the event. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes, including Upper Financial Centre Street, Zabeel Palace Street, Al Wasl Road and Al Khail Road.
Dubai Metro services began at 3 am and continued until midnight to support travel to the event. However, bicycles were not permitted on trains. Designated parking facilities were available at Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Mall and Zabeel.
Dh 10,000 prize for creative cycling outfits
This year’s programme also featured the inaugural Dress Your Ride competition, which offered a Dirham 10,000 prize. Participants brought creativity to the event through decorated bicycles and themed outfits.
Advance registration was mandatory, and participants collected their ride bibs at Zabeel Park by October 31.
