Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) reached 15.48 lakh people through 24,886 awareness programmes conducted across the State till October 2026, as part of its sustained efforts to combat cybercrime.

The month-long Cyber Security Awareness campaign, launched on October 1 with a flash walk at Necklace Road in Hyderabad, concluded with statewide Night Flash Walks on October 30 and 31.

During October alone, 4,248 awareness programmes were organised, reaching 2, 78,428 people. Police units conducted outreach programmes in educational institutions, public spaces and community gatherings. Special initiatives during Bathukamma, Navratri and Dandiya celebrations helped spread cyber safety messages among diverse sections of society.

Shikha Goel, Director of TGCSB, said cyber security awareness was not limited to a particular month but was being pursued as a continuous and systematic initiative. The bureau was adopting modus operandi-based and victim-group-based strategies to educate vulnerable sections about emerging fraud methods and preventive measures.

Initiatives such as ‘Online but Unafraid’, ‘Suraksha Ka Tiranga’ and ‘Pause. Think. Verify.’ under the ‘Fraud Ka Fullstop’ campaign they were strengthening public participation, she said.

Meanwhile, cybercrime-related financial losses declined by 20.2 percent during January-September 2026, falling to Rs.881.72 crore from Rs.1,104.42 crore during the corresponding period in 2025. However, the amount placed under lien in fraudsters’ bank accounts increased by 42.2 per cent, from Rs.183.11 crore to Rs.260.30 crore.
