Ghaziabad: A Grade 11 Dalit student in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad has alleged that two teachers at a local government inter college physically assaulted him and hurled caste-based insults.

The alleged incident occurred in Tyodhi 13 Biswa village at the Government Inter College within the jurisdiction of the Bhojpur police station. The student identified as Ruban said that the teachers repeatedly threatened him with removal of his name from the official registry at the school and humiliated him.

He informed his family of the abuse on Wednesday, October 28, when he was subjected to caste-based abuse yet again.

Ruban’s family with Azad Samaj Party workers, reached the Bhojpur police station, where they submitted a written complaint and demanded immediate action against the accused teachers.

College principal Vidyavati has denied that Ruban ever faced abuse and called the allegations false. She maintained that all students are treated equally at the college.

Siddharth Gautam, Assistant Commissioner of Police of Modinagar, said authorities have launched an investigation. Further action will be taken after the preliminary inquiry, he said.
