Growing Discontent: Angry National Conference MLAs May Meet Farooq Abdullah Over Cabinet Reshuffle

Image: ABP Live

The National Conference is reportedly facing internal dissent in Jammu and Kashmir, with speculation growing over a possible rebellion within the party. According to reports, more than 18 MLAs recently held a secret meeting at a legislator’s residence to discuss their grievances. The dissatisfied leaders are reportedly seeking ministerial positions for senior legislators and demanding the removal of some current ministers. Mubarak Gul, Abdul Majeed Larmi and Nazir Gurezi are among the leaders associated with the reported discontent. The tensions reportedly surfaced soon after the cabinet expansion on October 27, when supporters of Larmi and Gul protested their exclusion from the government. Mubarak Gul has reportedly indicated that he will announce his final decision on the 4th. The MLAs are also said to be seeking a collective meeting with party leadership to present their demands. Nazir Gurezi reportedly sent a message to party president Farooq Abdullah, who was in Delhi for Omar Abdullah’s wedding reception. He is expected to return to Srinagar, after which a meeting may take place. However, the National Conference has denied reports of any party split, describing the situation as internal dissatisfaction.
