Political Setback: Three AAP MLAs Quit Party in Three Days, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Joins BJP

Image: ABP Live

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a political setback in Punjab, with three of its MLAs leaving the party within three days. Chetan Singh Jauramajra, MLA from Samana, and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, MLA from Sanaur, had resigned from the party’s primary membership. On the following day, Amritsar MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh also resigned from AAP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He reached the BJP headquarters in Delhi with his supporters to complete the joining formalities. The development comes after AAP released its first list of 40 candidates, reportedly comprising sitting MLAs, but the names of these three legislators were missing. This has fuelled speculation that concerns over ticket allocation may have contributed to their exits. Kunwar Vijay Pratap had also reportedly raised questions within the party on issues including drugs, sacrilege and law and order. BJP leaders believe the entry of these legislators could strengthen the party in parts of Punjab, particularly the Malwa region. The developments have added to political activity ahead of the upcoming elections.
