Political Shake-Up: Three AAP MLAs Join BJP Ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly Elections

The Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major political setback in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with three of its MLAs resigning and joining the BJP. The leaders are former IPS officer and Amritsar North MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra and Sanaur MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra. Speaking about the inductions, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said the party’s support base was growing and claimed that more leaders could join in the coming days. He also said people were placing their trust in the BJP to address Punjab’s drug problem. On the question of an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal or other partners, Dhillon stated that the BJP was preparing to contest all 117 Assembly seats in the state. He reiterated that the party was fully prepared for the elections, while his remarks left the question of a possible alliance open to further discussion. The developments come as political parties begin preparing for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
