Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao called for wider adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across sectors, terming it as a key driver of future growth. He said the world was now entering an AI-driven era and Telangana needed to keep pace with changing technology.

“AI is not a monster but a messenger for humanity,” Rama Rao said, calling for its use wherever necessary while cautioning the need to use the technology responsibly.

Speaking at the launch of CampusHub AI in Nanakramguda on Monday, Rama Rao said technology became crucial to the education system, while AI could play an increasingly important role in the years ahead. Pointing to the rapid evolution of technology from landline phones to smartphones and the emergence of driverless vehicles, he said the coming years would belong to AI.

The former Minister emphasised the need for the governments to promote AI adoption and expand technology opportunities beyond Hyderabad. He also stressed that Hyderabad need not remain the sole destination for IT companies, and that technology ventures could be established in rural areas as well.

He said it was encouraging that four young people from rural backgrounds came together to launch an AI-based venture. Calling them as role models for the youth, he urged young people to think big and pursue ambitious goals. “Don’t just be job seekers, but become job creators,” he remarked.

Rama Rao recalled the importance given to the IT sector during the previous BRS government and efforts made to introduce AI-based interventions in agriculture, including an initiative in a village in Rajanna Sircilla district to help farmers make informed decisions on crop cultivation. The initiative was launched as Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture Innovation in 2020, he said.

He said upon returning to power in two years, the next BRS government would integrate AI into all government departments, accord priority to the technology across sectors and take steps to spread the IT industry throughout Telangana.
