Hyderabad: The Balanagar Excise officials seized 1.1 kg of ganja from a person during special inspections conducted in several areas as part of efforts to curb the sale and possession of narcotic substances.

According to excise officials, a team from the Balanagar Excise Station was conducting checks at various locations when they noticed a person behaving suspiciously. On checking him, the officials identified him as S. Srikanth, a resident of Bollaram. A search of his possession led to the recovery of 1.1 kg of ganja.

The staff immediately seized the contraband and took Srikanth into custody for further action. A case was registered against him at the Balanagar Excise Police Station under the relevant provisions of the law.

Quthbullapur Excise Superintendent R. Praveen said the department was taking steps to prevent the circulation of ganja in the region. Excise teams have been conducting inspections in different localities to identify people involved in the possession and sale of narcotic substances.

Officials said surveillance and checks would continue in areas under their jurisdiction to curb drug-related activities. They also urged the public to share information about the illegal sale or transportation of ganja with the Excise Department to help prevent the drug menace.
