Hyderabad: A 36-year-old software engineer died of a suspected heart attack after collapsing shortly after finishing a marathon at Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday morning, November 1.

Kommineni Gopi, a software engineer at International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation and a resident of Manikonda’s Alkapur Colony, had participated in the NEB Sports-organised marathon on Sunday.

According to the Gachibowli police, Gopi completed the run and collected his finisher’s medal before suddenly collapsing as he walked toward the breakfast counter.

Event organisers immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 8.45 am. Preliminary reports point to cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
