Hyderabad: A three-year-old boy was reunited with his adoptive parents in Jagtial on Monday, November 2, after a video of him crying outside a child protection facility went viral on social media.

According to local reports, the boy was taken in by Kasarapu Srinivas and Saritha when he was just five days old. The couple could not have children of their own and adopted the boy by performing rituals according to Hindu tradition.

However, unidentified persons filed a complaint with the Child Welfare Commission (CWC), and the boy was shifted to a facility.

The couple approached the Telangana High Court seeking relief. On October 16, the High Court directed the CWC to hand over the child to the couple.

Even after submitting the court order to CWC on October 28, the handover was allegedly delayed due to administrative reasons.

A video of the child crying for his parents went viral on November 2. The child was seen running into the arms of his father and calling out for his mother.

“As we were unable to have children, we adopted a baby from a maternity centre. Some unknown people filed a case against us at the child welfare office. Because of that case, officials came and took the child away. After they took him, we hired a lawyer to pursue the legal path. We went to the High Court and won a favourable judgment. Even though the High Court issued an order, they are refusing to give our child back to us. What do you expect us to do?” Saritha said while speaking to reporters.

“We might have made a small mistake out of ignorance… not following proper legal procedures back then. But now we have come through legal channels. We want our baby back. We are suffering immensely there, and we are terrified. He said the other day that he can’t bear to stay here,” she added.

The couple also approached District Collector B Satya Prasad through Prajavani, who assured them that the child would be returned to them by Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

The couple also thanked the media for shedding light on the issue and helping them bring their child back.
