Hyderabad: The PAANI app, launched by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to prevent wastage of drinking water and involve people in water conservation, is receiving a positive response from the public with a total of 437 people registering as Water Warriors within six days of the launch.

Every citizen interested in water conservation can register as a Save Water Volunteer on the Water Board website. Volunteers can then download the PAANI app from the Google Play Store and report any wastage or misuse of drinking water in their vicinity.

The complaints received by the volunteers will be examined by the concerned officials at the field level, and if water misuse is confirmed, action will be taken as per the rules.

The details of the complainants will be kept confidential.

The Water Board has appealed to everyone to prioritise the conservation of drinking water in view of the expected El Niño conditions.

It has advised that every family should reduce their daily water consumption by at least 20 per cent, prevent water leakages, and take precautions not to use drinking water for unnecessary purposes.
