Hyderabad: The Alwal police on Tuesday have arrested a property offender in connection with a house burglary in Janaki Nagar Colony and recovered gold and silver ornaments weighing a total of 56.2 tulas, along with a mobile phone at his instance.

The suspect, Nithin Francis alias Bablu, entered into a house when the house owner, Ganti Subramanya Karthik (37), and his family members were away. The family had left for Dammaiguda in Kapra on October 31 evening after locking their house. The next morning, a neighbour informed them that the first-floor door was found open, the police said.

On returning, Karthik found that the locks of the ground-floor main door and first-floor door had been broken and household articles scattered. The burglars had decamped with gold and silver ornaments and Rs.1.20 lakh in cash.

On a complaint, the Alwal police registered a case and launched an investigation.

The police picked up clues and nabbed the suspect. The police recovered gold ornaments weighing approximately 29.2 tulas and silver articles weighing 27 tulas, including anklets. A mobile phone allegedly used by Nithin to contact his associate was also seized.

The police are searching for the absconding co-accused, Darla Nehemiah alias Brucelee. Nithin has three previous cases against him, including attempted murder, a POCSO case and robbery, registered at Osmania University City and Chilkalguda police stations.
