Hyderabad: The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) on Tuesday asked State universities to instruct their private affiliated colleges to follow prescribed rules before terminating teaching and non-teaching staff.

In a letter to all universities, the TGCHE said it has been receiving complaints through emails, letters etc., from teaching and non-teaching staff working in various universities / private affiliated colleges alleging that their services were being terminated abruptly without prior notice or not following rules and regulations, as applicable.

Such actions, if undertaken without following the prescribed procedures, will adversely affect the service conditions and natural justice of teaching and non-teaching staff and the academic environment of the institutions, it said.

TGCHE Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy said the universities were asked to immediately look into the matter immediately and initiate necessary action, including instructions to affiliated colleges to strictly adhere to the applicable rules, regulations and guidelines prescribed by the UGC, AICTE, and other concerned statutory and regulatory authorities, as applicable.
