A massive fire broke out at a scrap market in Mumbai's Saki Naka area, triggering panic and causing extensive property damage. The incident took place at the Anna Sagar Scrap Market in Jari Mari, where flames rapidly spread and engulfed nearly 15 shops. As soon as the fire was reported, the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the spot with 12 fire engines, while the Fire Disaster Management Team was also deployed to assist in the operation. Firefighters launched an intensive effort to bring the situation under control, battling the flames for several hours before finally managing to extinguish the fire. Initial reports suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze, although the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed. An investigation is currently underway to establish how the fire started and whether any other factors contributed to its rapid spread. The scrap market, which houses several shops storing different kinds of materials, witnessed significant damage as the flames quickly moved from one shop to another. Around 15 shops were reportedly gutted, resulting in losses worth lakhs of rupees. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far, providing some relief amid the large-scale destruction. The incident once again highlights the fire risks in crowded commercial areas, particularly markets where combustible materials may allow flames to spread rapidly. Fire department personnel worked continuously to prevent the blaze from spreading further and causing additional damage to nearby establishments. Authorities are now assessing the extent of the losses and examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details are awaited as the investigation into the Mumbai scrap market fire continues.
