Rahul Gandhi vs Amit Shah: BJP Leaders Challenge Congress MP to Debate in Parliament

Image: ABP Live

The political confrontation between the BJP and Congress has intensified as Rahul Gandhi continues to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi over allegations of foreign interference in India's internal affairs. The Congress leader has demanded an open debate, asking the Prime Minister to choose the time and venue and face questions in front of the country's youth and media. The BJP has hit back strongly, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah declaring that the Modi government is ready to debate every issue in Parliament. Shah also offered to convene a special session to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, challenging Rahul Gandhi to participate in the discussion. Several other senior BJP leaders have joined the political attack. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman questioned why Rahul Gandhi does not actively participate in parliamentary debates despite demanding discussions publicly. She also criticised the Congress leader over the mock Parliament exercise. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, alleging that leaders who avoid parliamentary debates are now making big statements. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also issued an open challenge, asking Rahul Gandhi to come to Parliament and debate. She raised historical issues, including the Emergency imposed in 1975 and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, while questioning the Congress party's political record. BJP leaders have further accused Rahul Gandhi of making controversial remarks abroad and maintaining links with foreign interests. Meanwhile, Congress leaders maintain that Rahul Gandhi has openly challenged the Prime Minister and that the BJP should accept his invitation instead of questioning his intentions. With both parties trading sharp allegations over foreign interference, electoral reforms, SIR and parliamentary accountability, the political battle has moved beyond Parliament and intensified on social media as well.
