Delhi HC Refuses To Stay Release Of Sunny Deol’s ‘Suryaa’

The Delhi High Court has declined to intervene in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking to restrain the theatrical release of the film Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak.
The court observed that it found no grounds to entertain the petition or pass any order on the film’s release. However, it granted the petitioner liberty to approach the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with their grievance.
Appearing for the petitioner, the lawyer argued that the film’s official trailer depicts physical violence against doctors and other healthcare professionals.
The counsel further submitted that the safety of doctors is a highly sensitive issue, particularly amid recurring incidents of violence against medical professionals in the country.
The petitioner contended that portraying violence against doctors and healthcare workers in the film’s trailer was a matter of concern, especially at a time when attacks on medical professionals continue to be reported.
