Holding both her hands, her father and uncle gently lifted her out of the ambulance and walked her to a relieved, emotional crowd, waiting with garlands and a pooja thaali to ward off any evil. Some clapped; some did a small pooja while her little friends clicked her photo.

On October 31, a highly disturbing incident surfaced on the internet, sending chills down the spine. The six-year-old student, an LKG student at a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula, was allegedly assaulted by a Class 3 boy.
A purported video showed the boy grabbing her hair and repeatedly hitting her head against a desk. After she fell to the floor, he kicked her and repeatedly hit her with a brick.
When she did not return, her father went to the school to enquire. In a scene straight out of a movie, the same eight-year-old boy took the father to where he assaulted the child.
The family claimed that the same eight-year-old student accused of assaulting the girl later led them to the spot where she was lying unconscious inside the school premises.
When he saw his little girl lying in a pool of blood, the father nearly fainted.
She was immediately shifted to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh under intense medical care.
The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) took suo motu cognisance of the matter and has directed the District Education Officer to submit a comprehensive, point-wise factual report regarding the action taken by the Education Department.
The state government announced it will bear the child’s entire treatment cost and conduct a comprehensive safety audit of schools across the state.
