Delhi Tragedy: Building Collapses During Fourth-Floor Slab Construction

Fresh details have emerged from the building collapse in Chawri Bazaar, Old Delhi, where a three-storey under-construction structure reportedly collapsed at around 9:50 AM while work was underway on its fourth floor. According to information shared by local residents with ABP News correspondent Ujjwal, the first three floors had been constructed and workers were pouring the concrete slab for the fourth floor when the building came crashing down. Two deaths have been reported, and around five to six construction workers are believed to have been present at the site. The building's owners were reportedly staying elsewhere, while the people trapped or killed were workers engaged in construction. NDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations, cutting through metal grills and concrete slabs to reach the debris. Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Service officials have also reached the location and are examining the incident. Authorities have cordoned off the area and moved residents away from neighbouring buildings because a partially damaged wall has raised concerns about the safety of adjacent houses. Extremely narrow lanes and closely packed buildings are making rescue work difficult. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
