Prediction: Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana day 1 box office collection

Mumbai: Audiences already know what happens when Lord Ram takes on Ravana. This Diwali, the curiosity is in seeing Ranbir Kapoor and Yash bring that face-off to the big screen, with Sai Pallavi as Sita. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana arrives in cinemas on Thursday, November 5, and fans had already booked tickets worth Rs 30 crore across India by Monday night.

How much could Ramayana earn on day one?

According to reports, trade estimates put the Hindi version’s opening at Rs 60 to 70 crore. Across all languages, the film could touch Rs 100 crore in India on its very first day. What makes that figure ambitious is the timing. Ramayana opens on a working Thursday, four days before Diwali.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan believes Rs 60 to 70 crore is within reach for the Hindi version. Taran Adarsh, meanwhile, pointed to the audience that advance figures have yet to capture. “Let’s not underestimate spot bookings,” he said, suggesting that fans who buy tickets at the cinema on Thursday could still make a sizeable difference.

Why the trade is betting on Yash

Ranbir may be playing the hero, but the trade sees a big box office draw in the actor on the other side of the battle. For KGF fans, Ramayana offers a chance to see Yash step into the role of Ravana. One estimate puts the opening-day contribution from South India at around Rs 40 crore, driven by Yash’s popularity and the appeal of seeing him play the Lankan king. If that prediction holds, Ravana could have quite a hand in giving Ramayana its Rs 100 crore opening.
