UAE extradites Indian fugitive wanted in sexual assault case

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extradited Sajeer Palli Mooppam, an Indian fugitive wanted by the Delhi Police in a sexual assault case involving a 20-year-old woman, to India.
Mooppam arrived in New Delhi on November 4 after UAE authorities handed him over to a Delhi Police escort team, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a press release.
According to the CBI, Mooppam and an accomplice allegedly forced the woman to consume an intoxicating substance, leaving her incapacitated. They then took her to a hotel, where the accused allegedly used third-party identity credentials to complete the check-in process and avoid detection.
The agency said the woman was subjected to non-consensual sexual assault, which was corroborated by subsequent medical and forensic reports. A chargesheet has been filed before the competent court.
