Sojern Integration And Debt
The Sojern acquisition expanded RateGain’s travel marketing business, particularly its presence among destination marketing organisations (DMOs), hotels, and other travel businesses.
To finance the acquisition, RateGain’s UK subsidiary secured a $125 Mn debt facility from HSBC and Citibank, backed by a corporate guarantee from the Indian parent.
Including a repayment of $46.3 Mn today, the subsidiary has repaid $93.8 Mn, or 75%, of the original facility. Its outstanding debt now stands at $31.3 Mn.
Alongside the expansion in revenue, RateGain said the Sojern integration helped broaden its customer base. It had 14,538 customers at the end of September, about 4.5X the 3,224 customers it had at the end of FY25.
Its customers include hospitality companies, online travel agencies (OTAs), airlines, car rental companies, and DMOs.
Marketing Drives Business Mix
RateGain operates across three verticals: data as a service (DaaS), distribution, and marketing technology. Its offerings span competitive pricing and demand intelligence, hotel distribution, digital marketing, and guest engagement.
Marketing technology now accounts for 80.2% of revenue, followed by DaaS at 13.2% and distribution at 6.6%.
By customer industry, hospitality contributed 48.6% of H1 revenue, followed by DMOs at 30.9%, OTAs at 7.2%, airlines at 3.7%, and car rentals at 2.3%.
North America accounted for 63.7% of H1 revenue, followed by Europe at 21.5%, Asia-Pacific at 12.3%, and other markets at 2.5%.
The company’s client roster includes 33 of the world’s top 40 hotel chains, four of the top five airlines, and seven of the top 10 car rental companies.
RateGain also highlighted its AI products. Chairman and MD Bhanu Chopra said shifting travel demand is increasing customers’ reliance on data and AI.
He said RateGain’s priorities included adding customers, increasing their use of its platform, and extending AI into more of their daily operations. In H2 FY27, the company plans to take the combined RateGain and Sojern offering to more customers.
RateGain reported a total pipeline of ₹660 Cr and new contract wins worth ₹277.7 Cr.
The company’s employee headcount stood at 1,244 at the end of September, up 42.8% YoY.
