Marital dispute led to Hyderabad double murder, accused arrested

Hyderabad: The Meerpet police have solved the double murder case and arrested the suspect, Mohd Siddiqui, on Friday.
According to police, Siddiqui went to his in-laws’ house on November 4 and allegedly attacked his mother-in-law, Niranjan Bee, brother-in-law Mohd Yousuf and Yousuf’s wife, Mohd Reshma (39), with a knife. While Niranjan Bee and Yousuf died on the spot, Reshma suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
Shamshabad DCP B Rajesh said marital disputes and resentment over alleged humiliation in front of elders and family members prompted Siddiqui to plan the attack. His wife, Noor Begum, had reportedly left for her parents’ house following frequent quarrels.
On the morning of November 4, she had also approached the Meerpet police, expressing fear for her life because of her husband. However, it is alleged that no immediate response came from the police, which, according to the allegation, may have helped prevent the loss of two lives in the brutal attack.
Siddiqui allegedly carried out the attack later that evening. The knife used in the offence, a car and a mobile phone were seized from him. Further investigation is on.
