Chennai: The makers of director Jithu Madhavan’s eagerly awaited film ‘Scene’, featuring actor Suriya in the lead role, on Monday released a glimpse video of DSP Inbaraj, the character played by the actor.

Sharing the video, titled ‘Glimpse of DSP Inbaraj’, on his X timeline, Suriya wrote, “Hello Dear All, With love, DSP Inbaraj.”

The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, coinciding with Deepavali.

The glimpse video shows DSP Inbaraj (Suriya) arriving at a crime scene, where he is greeted by a constable named Sibi. Inbaraj exchanges pleasantries with Sibi, who is confused about whether to address him as “sir” or “anna” (elder brother). Inbaraj eventually advises him to stick to “sir”.

As they make their way through a crowd gathered outside the crime scene, Inbaraj asks people to maintain “one-arm distance”.

He questions Sibi about the crowd gathering during the COVID period. When a worried Sibi offers to disperse the crowd, Inbaraj stops him, saying that crowds make it more fun to watch reels. He asks Sibi to tell those recording videos on their phones to shoot them vertically.

In another sequence, Inbaraj advises someone not to smoke, warning that smoking could affect fertility. However, the glimpse also shows Inbaraj himself smoking a cigarette.

The video suggests that Suriya plays a street-smart policeman who is markedly different from conventional on-screen cops.

The makers have already revealed that Naslen plays the antagonist, Eeswaran. A video introducing his character portrayed him as a “faceless, emotionless, inhuman predator”.

In one scene, Eeswaran is heard telling someone, “Don’t be scared. I won’t kill you. Get the vehicle started.”

The film went on floors with a traditional pooja in Chennai in December last year. Produced by Zhagaram Studios, it had been tentatively referred to as ‘Suriya 47’.

The project has generated considerable anticipation since the collaboration between Suriya and Jithu Madhavan was first announced.

Suriya plays the lead role, with Nazriya Nazim as the female lead. Besides Naslen, the film also features John Vijay and Anandaraj in pivotal roles.

The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, music composer Sushin Shyam, production designer Ashwini Kale and editor Ajmal Sabu. Chethan D’Souza is the stunt choreographer.

The film has generated high expectations among fans and audiences.
