Saudi Arabia issues emergency alerts in two areas

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence issued emergency alerts early on Tuesday, October 27, for Al-Kharj Governorate and the Eastern Province, warning residents of potential threats.
Authorities also urged the public not to record or circulate videos of attempts to intercept incoming missiles and drones.
The warning was issued through the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies, alerting residents to an imminent threat.
Residents were advised to comply with Civil Defence directives and other official guidance and maintain safety precautions until the warning was withdrawn.
Civil Defence later confirmed that the threat had subsided in both areas, urging residents to continue adhering to safety guidelines and refrain from gathering or taking photographs at the affected sites.

The authority advised people requiring urgent assistance to contact the unified emergency number, 911.
Following the announcement, the Saudi-led coalition spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Malki, said air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi movement towards the Eastern Province.
The incident came amid an escalation in Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, with missile and drone threats reported across the kingdom in October.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa and other parts of the country in September 2014, triggering a civil war. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognised government.
The Houthis retain control over Sanaa and much of northern and western Yemen, while the internationally recognised government and its allies hold Aden and significant areas in the south and east. Control of several territories remains disputed, with front lines shifting amid continued fighting, particularly along the Red Sea coast.
