Telangana HC pulls up officials over employee regularisation

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday, October 26, expressed dismay over the delay in employee regularisation.

Justice T Madhavi Devi, hearing a contempt case of 2021 regarding the regularisation of employees working in different educational institutions in the erstwhile Warangal, questioned officials as to why no action was taken so far on the High Court’s earlier order.

The officials reportedly sought time on several occasions to implement the orders. The court set a deadline of November 27 for the final submission of a report regarding the implementation of the order. In case officials fail to file the report within the deadline, they will have to appear before the court.

During the hearing, Tribal Welfare Commissioner and Director Santosh and Finance Department Special Secretary Sikta Patnaik appeared before the court.

The officials sought another six weeks to implement the orders, but the court objected to the request.

The court highlighted that the orders had been issued in 2019 and that a contempt petition was filed in 2021.

Officials were asked why the orders were not implemented even after approaching the Supreme Court and getting no relief there.

Referring to the contempt notice issued on September 21, 2026, the court asked the officials to explain the initiatives taken after receiving the notices.

The tribal welfare department told the court that a letter was sent to the finance department on October 23. The finance department said that a file required for the procedure was not sent to it. Not satisfied with the arguments, the High Court expressed dismay over no progress in the regularisation of employees for a long period.
