Israel elections 2026 LIVE: Netanyahu faces voters after Oct 7

Israelis are set to vote on Tuesday, October 27, in the country’s first parliamentary election since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The elections are being described as among the most consequential in Israel’s history, amid scrutiny of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership, the impact of the war and divisions over the country’s security and political future.
Netanyahu is seeking another term, facing opposition figures including former military chief Gadi Eisenkot and former prime minister Naftali Bennett. Voters will elect representatives to the 120-member Knesset, with a party or coalition needing at least 61 seats to secure a parliamentary majority and form a government.
Polling stations are scheduled to open at 7 am and close at 10 pm local time in Israel. This corresponds to 9:30 am on Tuesday to 12:30 am IST on Wednesday, October 28.
