The Hyundai Bayon enters a crowded SUV market where buyers can choose between conventional petrol power, factory-fitted CNG and strong-hybrid technology

Hyundai has just launched its latest offering in the form of the Bayon. It focuses on cabin technology and driver assistance. The Grand Vitara, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Victoris offer a wider range of fuel options, including strong hybrids. The biggest differences are in pricing, powertrain choice and the features available at each end of the range. Let’s see how the Bayon fares against its competitors.

The Hyryder and Grand Vitara also offer all-wheel drive with the conventional petrol powertrain. The Victoris gets Maruti’s AllGrip system on select automatic petrol variants.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: It offers a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, an Infinity audio system, ambient lighting and Level 2 ADAS on selected variants. Its underbody CNG tank also helps preserve boot practicality compared with the Grand Vitara’s in-boot arrangement.

Which one should you choose?

The Hyundai Bayon stands out for cabin technology and driver assistance, particularly if you want a feature-rich petrol SUV. The Grand Vitara and Hyryder make more sense if strong-hybrid efficiency or all-wheel drive is a priority.

The Victoris offers a broad mix of powertrains and features, including ADAS and a more practical CNG installation.
Ultimately, compare equivalent variants rather than just the starting prices. The entry-level model may not offer the automatic gearbox, hybrid system or premium features you actually want.
