Will the BJP hold a press conference on Rahul Gandhi's Vietnam visit?
Speculation is rife in political circles that the BJP may hold a press conference regarding Rahul Gandhi's recent private visit to Vietnam. Sources suggest that party leaders may question the timing of his overseas travel amid ongoing opposition protests. While no official announcement has been made, political observers believe such a press conference could intensify criticism of his political consistency. The BJP may seek to contrast his domestic political campaigns with his frequent foreign visits, sharpening its political narrative ahead of the upcoming state elections.
INDIA bloc unable to organise a Zoom meeting?
Speculation and rumours are doing the rounds in political circles following the abrupt cancellation of the INDIA bloc's crucial virtual strategy meeting. The meeting, intended to formulate a united strategy against the ruling government, was reportedly cancelled due to conflicting schedules and the sudden unavailability of participants.
Political observers have questioned how an alliance aspiring to govern the country could struggle to coordinate a virtual meeting. Critics believe the cancellation may indicate deeper differences within the alliance, including leadership disagreements and a lack of coordination, rather than merely scheduling conflicts.

IAS Kriti Chachra aims to make governance and education accessible in Assam's Karbi Anglong
From digital public services to localised learning laboratories, Karbi Anglong District Commissioner Kriti Chachra, a 2021-batch IAS officer, is working to make governance more accessible and education more engaging in the district.
A citizen-centric system is being developed to make appointments with the Deputy Commissioner more convenient. In Karbi Anglong, a predominantly tribal district with difficult terrain and long travel distances, reaching the district headquarters can be challenging for many residents.
“I don’t want someone travelling for four hours to the DC office and then finding that I am not available or in field visit,” Chachra said.
The proposed app will allow citizens to book appointments with the Deputy Commissioner, receive registration IDs and obtain appointment confirmations. It will also feature a grievance redressal system through which residents can submit complaints from home and track their progress online.
The administration is also developing a road safety app called Tovar Ajipo, meaning “Road Mitra” in Karbi. It will enable citizens to report road-related problems, including damaged roads and missing signboards, by uploading photographs using GPS-enabled cameras. The app will also identify accident-prone locations and nearby hospitals and police stations. The initiative comes amid concerns over road accidents and ongoing construction activities in the district.
Another key initiative involves establishing localised learning laboratories inspired by the NIPUN Bharat mission and Delhi's NIPUN Shala model. These laboratories will offer activities related to astronomy and artificial intelligence (AI), making education more interactive and enjoyable for children.
“We are exploring CSR and DMFT funds for the initiative. We will start with Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and then extend it to Anganwadis so that everyone is covered,” she said.
The district library is also being upgraded with additional books and improved facilities.
Through these initiatives, Chachra aims to use technology and locally relevant solutions to bridge gaps in public services and education.
