The locally manufactured Land Rover Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE now starts at Rs. 99 lakh and is available with P300, P400 and D350 powertrains

The Land Rover Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE has entered local production in India at prices starting from Rs. 99 lakh (ex-showroom). The P300 2.0 petrol costs Rs. 99 lakh while the P400 3.0 petrol and D350 3.0 diesel are priced at Rs. 1.18 crore each (both, ex-showroom). Crucially, JLR has also converted several previously optional items into standard equipment for these locally produced versions.

The price revision is particularly significant on the six-cylinder models. The equivalent CBU D350 and P400 specification previously stood at Rs. 1.52 crore after Rs. 17 lakh worth of optional equipment. The new Rs. 1.18 crore figure cuts Rs. 34 lakh from that comparable specification. Comparatively, the P300 moves from Rs. 1.13 crore after Rs. 6.50 lakh worth of options to Rs. 99 lakh – a reduction of Rs. 14.50 lakh.

The visual and cabin choices differ slightly between the powertrains. The P400 and D350 are offered in Fuji White, Santorini Black, Tasman Blue, Carpathian Grey, Borasco Grey and Woolstone Green. Meanwhile, the P300 colour palette consists of Fuji White, Santorini Black, Gondwana Stone and Woolstone Green. Notably, the six-cylinder versions also receive Windsor leather and Kvadrat upholstery but the P300 gets Windsor leather seats.

The P300 employs a 1,997 cc petrol engine which is rated to kick out 300 PS and 400 Nm. The P400 has a 2,997 cc petrol engine producing 400 PS and 550 Nm, and the D350 has a 2,997 cc diesel rated at 350 PS and 700 Nm. All three powertrains are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The P400 reaches 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds, the D350 in 6.4 seconds and the P300 in 7.4 seconds.

The Defender’s onboard capability stays extensive. The electronic air suspension can raise the vehicle by up to 75 mm in off-road mode – taking ride height to 293 mm or lower it by 50 mm in Access Height mode. Importantly, Wade Sensing supports a maximum wading depth of 900 mm. Terrain Response 2 and Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control are standard across the locally produced range as well.

The D350 and P400 receive 29 former options as standard. Significantly, the list comprises Configurable Terrain Response, Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking, 20-inch Style 5095 diamond-turned wheels, heated third-row seats, 14-way heated and cooled memory front seats, climate rear seats, Meridian Surround Sound, head-up display and Signature Interior Upgrade.

The P300 receives 17 former options as standard. The equipment list comes with electronic air suspension, Adaptive Dynamics, Terrain Response 2, ClearSight interior rear-view mirror, three-zone climate control, Cabin Air Purification Plus, front centre console refrigerator compartment, third-row seats, Wade Sensing and reclining second-row seats. The standard features set also gains a panoramic roof, Matrix LED headlamps, Pivi Pro, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control and a full-size spare wheel.
