Truck driver crushed to death in accident on Khammam–Devarapalli Greenfield Highway

Khammam: A truck driver was crushed to death in an accident on Khammam–Devarapalli Greenfield Highway at Snanala Lakshmipuram village in Wyra mandal in the district on Tuesday.

According to Wyra Sub-Inspector of Police Pushpala Rama Rao in the incident that occurred during early hours in the day, when a truck transporting large granite blocks from Karimnagar towards Kakinada hit another truck from behind.

As a result, one of the granite blocks fell on the driver cabin of the truck and the truck driver Shaik Anikul of West Bengal was crushed to death. The police with the help of the highway maintenance staff retrieved the body after four hours of effort.

The accident affected vehicular traffic on the highway. Rama Rao along with the staff cleared the traffic, registered a case and took up an investigation into the incident.
