Srinagar- The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu and Kashmir, has suspended the licence of M/s ARWAH Packaged Drinking Water, located at Kakan Maran, Budgam, over food safety violations detected during an inspection on October 5.

The inspection, conducted following a complaint, revealed inadequate water quality testing and monitoring, missing statutory records and defective bottle-capping and sealing mechanisms that resulted in leakage.

The Designated Officer, Food Safety, Budgam, ordered the suspension after the unit failed to respond to a show-cause notice issued on October 7. The action was taken under Section 32(3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The unit has been directed to cease all activities at its premises until further orders.

The FDA has urged consumers to report suspected unsafe or adulterated food products at cfsjandk.fnd@jk.gov.in.
