Hyderabad: Panic gripped several localities in the south-western part of the city, including Rajendranagar and surroundings, on Tuesday morning after residents reported loud, explosive-like sounds and claimed that the ground shook for a few seconds.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9.15 am, with residents of Upparpally, Erraboda, Attapur, Langar Houz and Keshavaswamy Nagar reporting the sounds. The sudden noise, resembling a blast, startled residents, prompting some to rush out of their homes in fear.

The incident sparked speculation over whether the sounds were caused by blasting activity or an earthquake. The loud noises were also captured on CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity.

Rajendranagar Inspector Venkatesh said blast-like sounds were reportedly heard in Upparpally and Erraboda. Following complaints from frightened residents, police inspected the affected areas and initiated an inquiry to determine the cause.

However, the exact reason behind the sounds and the reported tremors remains unclear. Officials have yet to confirm whether the incident was linked to seismic activity or any rock blasting operation. Police have requested residents not to panic.

Meanwhile, several citizens started posting images and videos of the incident on social media accounts, which instantly went viral.
