The WPL 2027 auction took place on October 28, with franchises competing to secure key players ahead of the upcoming season. Several names attracted strong bidding interest, pushing final prices well above their base values.

Sophie Molineux stood out as the standout buy of the day, becoming the only player to cross the INR 1 crore mark at the WPL 2027 auction. Kiran Navgire earned the distinction of being the most expensive Indian player in the pool, while Jess Jonassen rounded out the top three alongside G Kamalini at the same price point.

Here are three most expensive players at WPL 2027 auction:

1. Sophie Molineux

Sophie Molineux was picked up by UP Warriorz Women for INR 1.1 crore at the WPL 2027 auction, having entered the bidding at a base price of INR 50 lakh. The Australian left-arm spinner also contributes in the lower order with the bat, adding to her value as an all-round option. Molineux has captained Australia across formats, bringing leadership experience to the side. Notably, she had been released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defending champions, before this auction. She had previously appeared in the WPL 2024 and 2025 seasons, playing 10 games for Royal Challengers Bengaluru before her release.

2. Kiran Navgire

Kiran Navgire was acquired by Delhi Capitals Women for INR 75 lakh, nearly doubling her base price of INR 40 lakh at the WPL 2027 auction. The capped Indian batter is known for her aggressive approach at the top of the order, with the ability to hit boundaries at a high rate. She is capable of slotting into the top four and providing an explosive start, making her a sought-after commodity in the auction room.

3. Jess Jonassen

Jess Jonassen was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women for INR 40 lakh at the WPL 2027 auction, placing her joint-third on the final sold list alongside G Kamalini of Gujarat Giants. The veteran Australian left-arm spinner had previously featured for Delhi Capitals across earlier WPL seasons before this change of franchise. Renowned for her composure when the pressure is highest, particularly in the death overs, Jonassen has built a reputation as a spinner who consistently delivers tight, economical spells and picks up crucial wickets at key moments.
