The Indian franchise leagues have reached another level by picking players unusually and becoming a headline all over. In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction which happened on October 28 in Kochi many players were sold and one name caught the eye of audience.

Delhi Capitals Women signed the 15-year-old Uma Kashvi for INR 10 lakh which makes her the youngest player to be bought in WPL auction. She surpassed the previous record held by Deeya Yadav who was 16 when she was bought by DC in last year’s mega auction.

Similarly, in Indian Premier League (IPL) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 1.1 crore in 2025 mini-auction. Now, Kashvi’s signing proves how well the Indian contingent looks in both men’s and women’s cricket.

She is an all-rounder who can bowl right-arm off-spin and a middle-order batter from Karnataka and represented India Under-19 in 2026. There could be a delay in her debut in WPL as the Under-19 World Cup set to be co-hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal collides with the league.

Speaking about her performance, she scored an unbeaten 217 in a junior club-level inter-school tournament in Bengaluru at just 12. She also received the Young Talent Award at the India Nippon Cup at nine years old and shared a room with senior women’s member Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamurthy, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil.

She led Karnataka Under-15 team and led Bengaluru Blasters in the Maharani Trophy. She also was part of Karnataka’s Under -19 T20 campaign and the side reached the semis of the Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy.

Kashvi finished as the leading run-scorer in Women’s Under-15 One-Day Trophy in the 2025-26 season. She scored 516 runs at an average of 172, including three tons and one fifty. Her standout performance from the season was against Manipur, scoring an unbeaten 158 off 66 balls, smashing 23 fours and seven maximums.

With both bat and ball, she impressed against Vidarbha in Karnataka’s Under-19 T20 Trophy quarter-final which earned her Player of the Match credentials.

Speaking about DC’s auction, they picked four players including Kiran Navgire, Nazma Khan, Kirstie Gordon along with Kashvi.
