Delhi Capitals shared a heartwarming moment on social media after signing Nazma Khan at the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction. The franchise posted a throwback message that the cricketer had sent to Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues. Nazma had said her dream was to share the field with her idol one day.

That message, sent about a year ago, has come back into focus after Nazma’s signing has brought her closer to the ambition she and Jemimah spoke about. The Indian batsman also took to Instagram to react to the exchange, welcoming the recruit to the Delhi Capitals family.

Nazma’s message was about playing with Jemimah and being part of a team that wins. She had also hoped the Indian batter would eventually get the message, so she could share the moment of her dream coming true.

A year later, Jemimah came across the message when she opened Instagram to text Nazma. She shared the screenshot in her story.

“Opened Instagram just now to text Nazma and stumbled upon a message from her a year ago. One year later, the manifestation is real. ✨ Welcome to the family 💙❤️.”

Delhi Capitals also celebrated the moment with a message on the importance of persistence and belief.

“Reminder that manifestation works. Keep trying. Never stop believing. It will all work out in the end,” the franchise wrote.

Delhi Capitals pick 4 players in WPL 2027 mini-auction

Delhi Capitals bought four players at the WPL 2027 mini-auction and bolstered their squad. The franchise signed Kiran Navgire for ₹75 lakh, and roped in Kashvi Kandikuppa, Nazma Khan and Scotland’s Kirstie Gordon for ₹10 lakh each.

Gordon’s addition gives the side another overseas spin option and the Indian signings further bolster the squad ahead of the upcoming season.

For Nazma, the signing is more than simply bagging a spot in the WPL. She had sent an old message to Jemimah about wanting to challenge the India international in the field and now she will get the chance to be part of the same franchise.

The exchange has given fans a look at the personal stories behind signings on auction day, Nazma’s journey a reminder of how aspirations can eventually turn into opportunities in professional cricket.
