JSW Motors To Launch 3 Electrified SUVs By 2027

GaadiWaadi -
All three electrified SUVs likely to be imported in knocked-down kits from China, with assembly taking place in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra
Three years after forming a joint venture with China’s SAIC Motor to enter the Indian car market, JSW Group is set to make an independent entry in this space with a new company – JSW Motors. The new establishment is expected to roll out three electrified SUVs in quick succession by the end of 2027.
1. JSW Combat
On 4 December, JSW Motors will unveil a plug-in hybrid D-segment SUV as its first model – the Combat. Adapted from an old version of Chinese automaker Chery’s Jetour Traveller C-DM, this model will feature a boxy and rugged design that gives the tough and confident impression of body-on-frame SUVs.

JSW Motors is likely to retain most of the design, revising mainly soft parts such as the bumpers, grilles, and wheels. Inside, changes are expected to be even fewer. While Chery offers its version with a host of powertrain options, the Indian model is likely to be a FWD configuration with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors producing 265 kW (355 hp) and 610 Nm of torque.
An 18.4 kWh LFP battery pack should supply electricity to the motors and provide a zero-emission range of over 100 kilometres. The JSW Combat should compete with the MG Majestor, Toyota Fortuner, Kia Sorento, VW Tayron, and Skoda Kodiaq. Despite its large size, it will only be available as a five-seater.
2. JSW J5
JSW Motors plans to launch its second model in January 2027, and this will be a much more accessible product compared to the first one. It will be a rebadged version of Chery’s Jaecoo J5, which is sold internationally in petrol, petrol-electric hybrid, and pure electric variants.

JSW Motors will offer its rebadged version only as an EV, though. We expect this model to measure around 4.38 metres in length, 1.65 metres in width, and 1.86 metres in height and have a wheelbase spanning approximately 2.62 metres. A single motor producing 155 kW (208 hp) and 288 Nm of torque will likely power the front wheels. A 60.93 kWh LFP battery pack should supply electricity to this motor and deliver a range of around 500 kilometres.

3. JSW V23
The third JSW model will likely be a rebadged version of Chery’s iCar V23, a retro-style boxy SUV smaller than the Jaecoo J5. Internationally, it is offered only as an EV, in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants, but which configuration is brought to India remains to be seen.

The V23-derived EV should be approximately 4.22 metres long, 1.92 metres wide, and 1.84 metres tall, with a wheelbase of about 2.73 metres. JSW Motors could launch it in the second half of 2027 and position it as a Tata Sierra.ev rival.
