Hyderabad: A mangalsutra is precious to an Indian woman. Try to snatch it, and you will land in big trouble. Two men who allegedly tried to steal the sacred necklace from an elderly woman farmer learned this the hard way. She, along with fellow villagers, caught the suspects and gave them a beating with sticks.
The incident occurred in Solakpalli village in Sangareddy district. Aravind and Sailu approached the woman on a motorcycle while she was working in an agricultural field and asked for directions.
As she was speaking, they snatched her three-tola gold mangalsutra, weighing approximately 35 gram, and attempted to flee.
She raised an alarm, prompting nearby farmers to chase and catch the suspects. They brought them back to the furious woman. She picked up a thick stick and gave them a good thrashing as they cried, “Amma!”

Jinnaram Police took the two into custody. Police said the accused had allegedly been involved in four previous theft cases.
