Now report water wastage in Hyderabad on HMWSSB’s PAANI app

Hyderabad: To curb misuse, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Thursday, October 29, launched the PAANI mobile app (click here to install).
How to register in PAANI app
Citizens can now register as Save Water Volunteers and report drinking water wastage and misuse in their neighbourhoods. Interested can register through the HMWSSB website by submitting a government-recognised ID document.
After registration, volunteers can download the PAANI app from the Google Play Store and submit complaints about water misuse.
Complainant’s identity confidential
The identity of the complainant will be kept confidential. Each complaint will undergo SMS-based verification.
Officials will conduct field inspections, and if confirmed, notices will be issued to the individuals or establishments concerned, and penalties imposed.
Best volunteers will be recognised
The government will recognise and encourage volunteers who make significant contributions to water conservation. The best-performing Save Water Volunteers will have an opportunity to meet and receive appreciation from the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, said the release.
Avoid wasting drinking water, reuse treated wastewater
Residents should use drinking water only for drinking and essential domestic needs. Avoid using it to wash vehicles and floors.
Households should also prevent water from overflowing from overhead tanks and sumps and promptly repair leaks.
Treated wastewater from sewage treatment plants (STPs) should be used for parks, gardens, landscaping, construction and industrial purposes. The Dial-A-Green Tanker service can help supply treated water for suitable non-drinking uses, reducing pressure on drinking water sources.
