Delhi witnessed two major political events as the country marked Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary. Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the “Run for Unity” in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and BJP leaders. People from different age groups participated in the event, which carried a message of national unity and integrity. Addressing the gathering, Shah spoke about Sardar Patel’s contribution and alleged that previous governments had not given him the recognition he deserved. He also highlighted the Statue of Unity and reiterated the vision of a united India and the goal of building a developed nation by 2047. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to visit the Statue of Unity in Gujarat to pay tribute to Patel. Meanwhile, Congress leaders gathered to pay homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge were among those present, along with other senior party leaders. The two events highlighted contrasting political gatherings in the capital, with one focusing on national unity and the other on remembering a former Congress prime minister.
