Updated Toyota Innova Hycross gains larger digital displays, new connected functions, panoramic camera and added equipment in Indonesia
Toyota has revised the Kijang Innova Zenix sold in Indonesia with notable changes and is the same MPV known as the Innova Hycross in India. The hybrid variants gain a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the V Hybrid grade upwards receives a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen infotainment system. Prices for the hybrid range start at IDR 475.4 million (around Rs. 24.87 lakh) for the 2.0 G Hybrid CVT in Jakarta.
The V Hybrid trim costs IDR 517 million (Rs. 27.05 lakh) before premium paint charges. The updates on the interior account for the biggest change. Every hybrid grade gets the new 12.3-inch TFT instrument display compared to the 7-inch unit on the petrol versions. The G Hybrid uses a 10-inch central touchscreen, and V Hybrid, V Hybrid Modellista and Q Hybrid Modellista move to the larger 12.3-inch unit.
Smartphone connectivity and NFC e-toll functions are supported on selected versions. The Q Hybrid Modellista additionally gets an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot. Toyota has reserved several comfort and safety additions for the Q Hybrid Modellista. It comers with electrically adjustable driver seating, second-row captain seats featuring powered recline and ottomans, front and rear DVR cameras, six airbags, Toyota Safety Sense and blind-spot monitoring.
A panoramic camera also features on this grade. The V Hybrid and V Hybrid Modellista get the panoramic camera too while the G Hybrid uses a conventional rear-view camera. Rear and corner parking sensors are fitted to the Q grade and the other listed hybrid versions get rear sensors. The Modellista versions also receive a distinct exterior treatment.
Toyota fits a grille ornament, front bumper spoiler, side body moulding and rear bumper spoiler to the V Hybrid Modellista and Q Hybrid Modellista. The Q grade uses 18-inch alloy wheels and gains a foot-gesture sensor for its powered tailgate. The G Hybrid features newly styled silver-finished 17-inch alloy wheels. The power retractable exterior mirrors are present across all four hybrid grades.
As for the performance, the familiar 1,987 cc M20A-FXS four-cylinder petrol engine produces 152 PS at 6,000 rpm and works alongside a 113 PS electric motor. Combined system output stands at 186 PS. The petrol engine torque is rated at 19.1 kgm between 4,400 and 5,200 rpm, and the electric motor develops 21 kgm.
An e-CVT sends power to the wheels while Eco, Power and EV drive modes are also available. The self-charging hybrid system does not require external charging. Dimensions measure 4,755 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,795 mm tall. Wheelbase stands at 2,850 mm and ground clearance measures 185 mm. The G Hybrid, V Hybrid and V Hybrid Modellista use 215/60 R17 tyres while Q Hybrid Modellista runs on 225/50 R18 tyres.
The front suspension comes in the form of MacPherson struts and the rear gets a torsion-beam setup. Disc brakes are fitted at both ends and are supported by ABS, EBD and brake assist. Connected services also receive significant attention on the Indonesian model as Toyota lists remote engine start, remote air conditioning control, vehicle status checks, trip history, geofencing, stolen vehicle tracking, driving reports and several monitoring functions through its connected-car ecosystem.
The Hybrid prices extend to IDR 539.5 million for the V Hybrid Modellista and IDR 618.4 million for the Q Hybrid CVT TSS Modellista in non-premium colours. The Indonesian update provides a useful preview of what Toyota could introduce on the Innova Hycross facelift as it is set to launch on November 26.
