Hyderabad: The Telangana Labour Department has summoned makers of the Telugu film Irumudi, starring actor Ravi Teja, on November 4 over complaints of the involvement of a minor girl in the film’s shooting and promotional events.

The notice was issued by the labour department following a complaint against the film-makers by C Mahesh Babu, founder-president of Jai Lok Satta (Social Justice Forum).. The Joint Commissioner of Labour, Ranga Reddy Zone, has scheduled a meeting with the production management on November 4 at the Anjaiah Karmika Samkshema Bhavan in RTC X Roads.

According to a notice issued by the department, the filmmakers have been asked to submit documents relating to the District Magistrate’s permission, parental consent, working hours, attendance, educational arrangements and safety measures.

Producers of the film have also been asked to submit records of the minor’s participation in promotional events and details of whether 20 per cent of her remuneration was deposited in a fixed deposit in her name.

The department is likely to examine whether the conversations and language used during the promotional event affected the girl’s dignity and safety.

The producers have also been directed to attend the meeting with the relevant records or send an authorised representative.
