Foreign powers using Rahul Gandhi to destabilise India: BJP chief

Bhagalpur (Bihar): BJP president Nitin Nabin on Monday, November 2, slammed the Opposition parties for holding a rally in Delhi a day ago over ‘vote chori’ charges, alleging that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was being used by foreign powers to create instability in the country.
Addressing a gathering here as part of the party’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) campaign, the BJP chief also accused Gandhi of “acting at the behest of foreign powers to create anarchy in the country”.
“Rahul Gandhi is being used by a foreign-backed toolkit to create instability in India. He is acting at the behest of foreign powers to create anarchy in the country. He must remember that our country is governed by the Constitution,” Nabin said.
He claimed that the Opposition parties had “failed” to raise complaints during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls due to “a lack of grassroots workers” in several states.
“The people of Bihar had punished the opposition in the 2025 assembly elections. The opposition parties had faced a humiliating defeat.
‘Question EVM only when they lose’
They question constitutional institutions like the Election Commission and the conduct of polling through EVMs only when they lose elections, while accepting poll results when they win,” the BJP chief claimed.
He accused the Congress and other INDIA bloc constituents of disrespecting the people’s mandate in Bihar and undermining constitutional institutions after electoral defeats.
Nabin said, “The message from Bihar’s democratic soil is clear. The time has come to decisively defeat the opposition.”
He warned that if the Congress continued to ignore public sentiment, “voters would deliver a mandate so that the party could struggle to remain politically relevant.”
Referring to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, he said the Congress-led UPA was voted out of power due to “corruption, terrorism and scams”.
He claimed that the political future of opposition parties was “under threat” and that voters would “reject” them in coming elections.
‘Oppn spreading misinformation’
He also criticised Opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee and AAP functionaries, for questioning constitutional institutions after facing electoral setbacks.
“When the SIR of electoral rolls was going on in Bihar and other states, leaders of the Congress, RJD and other Opposition parties were busy in spreading misinformation, instead of raising concerns through proper channels. The opposition parties failed to file complaints during the exercise and resorted to political rhetoric after its completion,” Nabin alleged.
Speaking about Congress’ electoral record, he questioned why the party had failed to learn from its 2014 defeat, which led to another setback in 2019.
He maintained that the BJP’s victories in 2019 and 2024 were driven by public support.
Nabin attributed the BJP’s electoral success to its focus on development, public welfare and national security, asserting that these priorities continued to garner support from voters.
