Hyderabad: In a photo Ram Charan shared on Instagram, he and his father Chiranjeevi stand on either side of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, presenting him with an idol. It was in the caption that the Telugu star explained what brought the two actors to the meeting.

Ram Charan said he and his father had raised concerns about deepfakes and the misuse of artificial intelligence in the film industry. For actors, a deepfake can make it look as though they said something they never said or appeared in a video they never filmed.

Ram Charan shares Amit Shah’s response

The actor said Shah heard them out and took their concerns seriously. “I’m encouraged by his understanding and positive response to our concerns about the growing misuse of AI and deepfake technologies and the serious impact they have on artists and our industry,” he wrote.

According to Ram Charan, Shah assured the actors that the government would examine the issue urgently and work towards stronger safeguards for artists. The actor also said the minister had spoken of strict action against such misuse.
