Five new non-executive directors have been proposed for the Sussex Cricket board, with members set to vote on all five appointments at the club's AGM in March. Each director, once ratified, will serve a three-year term. Among those put forward is Holly Colvin, the former England and Sussex Women's captain, who is now 37.

Colvin's connection with Sussex spans a decade, having represented the county between 2005 and 2015. She captained the Sussex Women's side during that period and led England at international level. Her most celebrated moment came in the 2009 World Cup final, when she hit the winning run to seal victory for England. At county level, Colvin was part of two County Championship Division One title-winning sides with Sussex Women, adding two County Championships to her playing record.

The other four proposed directors are Alison Bruce, Paul Farris, Mark Jeffries and Callum May. Another former Sussex Women's player, Bruce also captained the side during her playing career. Farris is an entrepreneur and sports events expert, while Jeffries is a business owner who previously served as vice-captain of the Sussex Young Cricketers and currently holds the position of Vice-Chair of the Sussex Cricket League. May is a BBC editor and a long-standing Sussex Cricket member.

Why are five new directors being proposed at Sussex Cricket?

The five proposed appointments are part of a broader board renewal being overseen by chair Ed Warner. The aim is to bring a wider range of expertise to the group that guides the club's executive team. Collectively, the incoming directors cover professional cricket, business, sports events management, grassroots cricket administration and media. Callum May, one of the five proposed directors, spoke about the significance of the process in comments supplied to the club.

"These appointments strengthen our capability as a board to guide and challenge the executive team and mark an important step in our continued refresh," said chair Ed Warner as quoted by BBC.

All five appointments remain subject to member ratification at the annual general meeting scheduled for March. Once that vote is passed, each director will take up a three-year term on the Sussex Cricket board.
