Congress Slap Row: Exclusive Video Shows Alleged Incident Between Two Maharashtra MPs

Image: ABP Live

A major controversy has erupted within the Maharashtra Congress following allegations of an alleged slapping incident involving two party MPs. The incident reportedly took place on November 1, when Congress leaders and MPs were travelling by bus to Delhi's Ramlila Maidan to participate in the 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' rally. Ramtek MP Shyam Kumar Barve has been accused of slapping Chandrapur MP Pratibha Dhanorkar during the journey. ABP News has accessed exclusive footage of the incident, which shows the two MPs interacting when Barve appears to make a light physical gesture towards Dhanorkar's cheek. Although no major confrontation is clearly visible in the video, the incident has now triggered an internal controversy within the party. Some Congress office-bearers have reportedly submitted a complaint to party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders, demanding attention to the matter. The complaint alleges that Shyam Kumar Barve's behaviour has damaged the party's image and raised questions about discipline within the organisation. According to reports, the complaint has been made with the expectation that the party leadership will take appropriate disciplinary action. The matter has gained further attention after the exclusive video surfaced, bringing the alleged incident into the political spotlight. Meanwhile, Shyam Kumar Barve has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations so far. The Congress leadership's response and its decision on the complaint are now being closely watched. Questions are also being raised about how seriously the party will address allegations involving the conduct of its elected representatives, particularly when a woman MP is involved.
