Headmaster found drinking at Telangana school, faces action

An inquiry by education officials in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district has found a government school headmaster guilty of drinking alcohol on campus during working hours, and disciplinary action against him is now set to follow.
Headmaster S Srinivas of the Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School (MPUPS) in Gambhiraopet village, Tiryani mandal, was allegedly turning up at school under the influence of alcohol for the past three days.
Students told villagers that Srinivas would drink near the school washroom and keep liquor bottles in a carton on the premises. Villagers who went to the school reportedly found liquor bottles on the headmaster’s table, which triggered outrage in the village.
Led by the village sarpanch, villagers confronted Srinivas and lodged a complaint with the Mandal Education Officer (MEO), demanding immediate action.
Tiryani MEO K Anjaiah said he conducted a preliminary inquiry after receiving the complaints. “I spoke to the students and other staff members. The allegations were found to be true. A detailed report will be submitted to the District Educational Officer (DEO), following which strict action will be taken against Srinivas,” Anjaiah was quoted by The Times of India.
The villagers have demanded stringent punishment for the headmaster.
