NIMS Faculty Association opposes generalisation of corruption allegations after ACB action against doctor

Hyderabad: The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Faculty Association (NIMSFA) on Wednesday strongly opposed generalisation of corruption allegations against the entire faculty.

Reacting to the raids conducted by the ACB and subsequent arrest of Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Nori Lakshmi Bhaskar, the NIMSFA said allegations of corruption related to one individual should not be attributed to the entire faculty.

“We strongly object to the practice of attributing allegations against specific individuals to the entire faculty community. Allegations against particular individuals must be examined individually and investigated strictly on the basis of evidence and facts. The entire faculty community should not be held responsible or subjected to collective criticism for allegations concerning specific individuals,” the NIMSFA said.

While condemning corruption, financial irregularities and all forms of professional misconduct, the NIMSFA maintained that unverified information, baseless allegations and rumours should not be used to malign the entire faculty community.

“While no one should be allowed to justify proven misconduct, it is equally unacceptable to tarnish the reputation of the entire faculty community through unverified allegations, false publicity, rumours and unsubstantiated information,” the association said.
