Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) made special arrangements to facilitate the onward journey of 1,226 passengers stranded at Kazipet following train diversions due to Cyclone Murasu.

Four trains were diverted via Kazipet without touching Vijayawada, their scheduled destination. Of the affected passengers, 278 were accommodated aboard the Secunderabad–Guntur Golconda Express, while a special train was arranged to transport the remaining 948 passengers from Kazipet to Vijayawada.

SCR also arranged food and refreshments at Warangal, Ramagundam and Jammikunta stations for passengers travelling on delayed trains.

An additional stoppage was provided at Kurnool City for a diverted train to facilitate catering services. Ticket-checking staff assisted passengers, while divisional officers monitored train operations round the clock.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the staff for their efforts and directed officials to remain alert as heavy rains are expected to continue.

Night patrolling has also been intensified, with additional watchmen deployed at vulnerable bridges to monitor water levels and ensure safety.
