Defence tech company Tonbo Imaging swung to a consolidated net profit of ₹23.5 Cr in the September quarter of FY27 from a net loss of ₹9.6 Cr in the year-ago period, supported by a sharp jump in operating revenue.

The Bengaluru-based company’s revenue from operations surged 1,963.3% YoY to ₹183.3 Cr during the quarter under review from ₹8.9 Cr in Q2 FY26.

Sequentially, Tonbo returned to the black from a net loss of ₹17.7 Cr in Q1 FY27. Operating revenue rose 409% from ₹36 Cr in the preceding quarter.

Tonbo develops imaging and sensor systems for defence applications, including surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting. Its products include thermal imaging systems, weapon sights, handheld thermal imaging binoculars, fire-control systems, and missile seekers.

Tonbo’s total expenses rose 610.5% to ₹153.7 Cr in Q2 FY27 from ₹21.6 Cr in the corresponding quarter last year.

Despite the increase in spending, the revenue surge helped Tonbo post a profit before tax of ₹31.4 Cr against a pre-tax loss of ₹10.7 Cr in Q2 FY26.

Other income declined to ₹1.9 Cr from ₹2 Cr a year ago, taking total income to ₹185.2 Cr.
